Shot like shit (which is understandable) but mostly that you need to project so much to justify this ending. I think it would work way better if the movie made more associations with Disney like when they watched the fireworks, but as it stands, it feels like it only exists because people will go “I know that place” and make the association from the story to the ending themselves.

One the one hand, yes it's funny that someone thinks La La Land has one of the most brutal ending ever but, on the other hand, it's a LetterBoxd review that is longer than 1 sentence. So it's a net positive
Yeah I mean, everything is open to interpretation. I don't think La La Land is that cynical too, it's wholesome overall. "The fools who dream" is song that makes something hopeful and finds dignity in something that would make other people say "look at these fools who believe they are gonna make it in the industry, ha!".
The locations combine the street-smart choices of Jim McBride’s Breathless with the nocturnal mysteries of David Lynch. Enter La La Land, writer-director Damien Chazelle’s triumphant follow-up
La La Land blew its load in the first 10 minutes with 2 over-produced opening numbers in a row (out of 5 real numbers, if I'm counting correctly? John Legend's diegetic interlude doesn't count.) When 40% of your musical numbers are set-up songs, you know the director isn't really interested in making this a real musical -- he's interested in
If so, then La la Land is a must see. It's just well done on every level: the acting is smooth, natural, and very expressive, the dialogue is snappy and funny yet emotional when it needs to be, the direction is incredible with how complex some of the camera movements are, the colors in the shots are gorgeous, the characters are extremely
You know I wanted that for us , at least this last time cass. I wanted to come to an understanding that this isn’t gonna work because our paths just…
I was a big fan of the ending sequence in American in Paris so I really appreciated it!! But more than that, having the main characters make the hard choice and stay true to themselves by following their dreams, which feels like is what LA is all about, instead of doing the bullshit Hollywood thing
