So, yes it can be lowered. I forget the actual numbers, but I believe the OEM spring is 7.1" but ohlins makes one that is 6.7". These numbers may be off a tad, but you get the picture. The 1/2" shorter spring is probably over 1" at the rear axle. A lighter spring would make the sag when she sits on the bike even lower.

Heck, I own BMW 535 out of warranty, if that helps paint the picture of my tolerance for things unreliability. What scares me about the MTS1200 are the rumours of very high maintenance costs, or at least difficulty. $1400 valve adjustments. Expanding gas tanks. markyd Thread Starter New Member. so at 3 years old and about 8000 miles the RH fork seal has given up (just one of a very long list of issues over the 3 years !). Bought new seals and stripped RH leg at the weekend. Oil was dark grey in colour, no visible damage/wear to seal. Quite a bit of 'gunk' in oil, but no metallic debris.
